Attacks on Fulani
It's easy to find stories online about how farmers are suffering in Nigeria. Many farmers speak English and have shared their stories with journalists and NGOs in the west. But did you know that herders are suffering too? Their homes are being burnt, their people killed, their cows poisoned and injured, their livelihoods threatened. On this page you will find some resources about this. Below is an attempt to document some of these attacks as we receive information on them. We know the list is incomplete, our small team does our best but inevitably will not be able to record everything due to the extent of the violence. We have tried in each case where possible to share a social media link to demonstrate that there is evidence other than ours of these attacks. (Please note that many of these links contain graphic photos of corpses and injured or dead cows.)
The instances of violence noted here before 2026 are few because they were not then being systematically recorded; they were pulled from letters of a missionary regarding personal Fulani friends and their families. Further details from the WTN team who recorded these instances in prayer letters and other correspondence at the time.
