Photos are so helpful to illustrate a point!!! Except when they're not............

Just yesterday on Facebook we saw a news article complaining about the Fulani people and using this photograph. However, this photo is not from Nigeria!

This photograph is misleading. It is not Fulani in Nigeria, it is Dinka herders in South Sudan, taken in 2013 and exposed in 2021 by the Daily Trust as unethical to use. They quote Dr Anthony Igyuve, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication of Nassarawa State University:

"These photos are not a true reflection of the Fulani and the situation in Nigeria. The photos are misleading and an attempt to create a false narrative. It is unethical to use such photos."

We invite journalists, bloggers and writers that need accurate photos of Fulani to please see our page for Journalists on our website where you will find plenty of photos you can use for free. Or, if you need more, please get in touch with us.
