Help prevent Ethnic Cleansing
We are highly concerned about the singling out of the Fulani ethnic group in the US State Department funding bill, because we are regularly seeing ethnic cleansing being perpetrated against Fulani non-combatants in Nigeria based on ethnic prejudice and stereotyping of that whole group.
If you can, please consider writing to Senators in the US:
“I implore you to remove the word Fulani from this bill and from future communication about this topic. Please take out section 7042 (b) and especially (b) (2) (C) Members of many different ethnic groups are involved in these heinous crimes. To single out the Fulani ethnic group is at a minimum unwarranted and dishonest and at most recklessly endangering innocent lives. Some few Fulani are involved in these crimes, to be sure, but the vast majority of the millions of Fulani in Nigeria are innocent of these crimes. Your naming of this ethnic group is unjust and unfair and perpetuates the ethnic cleansing of Fulani that is already happening.”
