It's farming season!

Rainy season is always an exciting time in Nigeria. The dust and heat gives way to cool, wet weather. Farmers work hard to prepare the land, plant and tend their crops and wait for harvest. It's a precarious time too, any losses due to drought, disease, farmer illness or animal incursion on the farm can be disastrous and soul destroying - as well as leaving families hungry the following year.

Tensions can be high and people can be nervous....perhaps that is why we are seeing an increasing number of attacks on Fulani herders walking their cows home in the evening, two recorded last week (16th and 17th July leaving people and cows recovering from gunshot wounds) www.wholetruthnigeria.net/attacks-on-herders
